A tubular housing(10) has perforated plates(14,16) at the inlet(100) and outlet(101) and loose individual mixing particles(12) in the chamber(11) between the plates. Preferred Features: Mixing particles are densely packed spheres. Openings in the perforated plates have a smaller diameter than the mixing spheres which may have similar or different diameters. The inner wall(10a) of the housing is either smooth or profiled. The perforated plates can be removed from the housing.
