The present invention provides a liquid crystal display comprising at least one compensation film having retardation in the face of the film, a driving twisted nematic liquid crystal cell composed of a pair of transparent substrates provided with electrodes and nematic liquid crystal sandwiched between the substrates, and two polarizing plates arranged on the upper and lower sides of the liquid crystal cell, wherein the absorption axis or transmission axis of the polarizing plate is approximately parallel to the direction of orientation of the liquid crystal molecule on the liquid crystal cell substrate to which the polarizing plate is closest, and the angle between the slow axis bearing in the face of the compensation film and the absorption axis or transmission axis of the polarizing plate is in the range of 0.1 to 10 DEG . <IMAGE> |
