PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press machine using a crank mechanism which can perform pressing by pressing force control when a slide position exists in a pressing region. SOLUTION: When the slide position is determined to exist between an initial position and a switching position to the pressing region, a motor 30 is regularly rotated by position control systems (53, 60 and 70) to enable the slide to move down. When the slide position is determined to exist in the pressing region, the system is switched to a pressing control system (58, 70) to make a slide pressing force become equal to a set slide pressing force, so that the press working can be executed while the slide moves down. After completion of the press working (after the slide reaches the front of a bottom dead center), the system is switched to the position control system again, and the motor 30 is controlled so as to reversely rotate so that the slide moves back to the initial position and can move up while the slide moves up.
