BACTERIUM HAVING AROMATIC COMPOUND DECOMPOSITION ACTIVITY AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new decomposing bacterium for aromatic compounds such as bisphenol A, and a method for decomposing the aromatic compounds by using the same. SOLUTION: The bacteria belonging to the genus Sphingobium, Pseudomonas or Novosphingobius and capable of assimilating bisphenol A as a single carbon source is obtained by culturing a separated source such as a soil or activated sludge in a medium containing bisphenol A as a single carbon source, further culturing the propagated bacteria in a similar medium, and by repeating the same process. These bacteria are extremely effective for removing an environmental polluting material such as bisphenol A. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
