PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to compensate feed through voltage by applying alternating storage voltage to storage lines, thereby improving the quality of a picture. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal panel includes thin film transistors formed at crossing parts of data lines and gate lines, and storage lines formed crossing pixel electrodes connected to drain terminals of the thin film transistors. A common voltage generating unit generates common voltage applied to common electrodes facing the pixel electrodes. A converter generates alternating storage voltage of which the polarity changes alternately every predetermined period in a section where the thin film transistors are turned off, so that the converter applies the alternating storage voltage to the storage lines.
