PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing digital contents using watermarking are provided to protect CONSTITUTION: A system for providing digital contents using watermarking includes a signal converter(301), a watermark inserting device(302), and a transmitter(303). The signal converter converts the original digital contents signal(311) using conversion information(312). The watermark inserting device inserts the conversion information and a watermark signal(313) into the digital contents signal converted by the signal converter. The transmitter transmits the digital contents signal having the inserted watermark signal through a communication network(304). The conversion information is represented in a binary number having a predetermined length.
