<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the welding quality of the laser welding machine for a container for a rectangular battery and to provide a method of welding a container for a rectangular battery, the method being capable of preventing damage to a laser welding machine, and a method of manufacturing a rectangular battery. <P>SOLUTION: The method of welding a container for a rectangular battery constituted of a metal case 4 for battery and a lid 2 both to be laser-welded comprises such an arrangement that a laser beam of light 21 is set to enter the surface of a portion 30 to be welded at an incident angle ofθ<SB>2</SB>from inside the periphery of the lid as the laser beam is viewed from a plane S2 that is normal to the scanning direction of a laser welding machine, and is set to enter the surface of a portion to be welded from the side where scanning has ended at an incident angle ofθ<SB>1</SB>, with respect to a plane S1, as is made a reference, which is normal to the scanning direction of the laser welding machine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
