PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-liquid separating method and a solid-liquid separation apparatus for separating a solid-liquid mixture like excreta of a farm animal into a solid (the solid content) and a liquid (the liquid content) without using electrical energy to be supplied from the outside of a plant as a power source. SOLUTION: The solid-liquid mixture (12) (for example, excreta of the farm animal such as a cow) transported by a transportation means (for example, a truck 10) is thrown in a storage means (a cylinder 14, a chamber or the like). The mixture (12) stored in the means (14) is compressed by a compression means (a piston 15, a press or the like). The liquid (12L) bled from the mixture (12) when compressed and the remaining solid content (12c) are separated by a filtration means (a mesh 16 or the like). The compression above-mentioned is carried out by transmitting the gravity of the transportation means (for example, the truck 10) to the compression means (15) via a power transmission mechanism (links 24, 25, a lever, a fluid pressure circuit or the like) as driving force.
