PURPOSE: A flatness measuring apparatus for a cold rolled strip and a method for improving accuracy of the same are provided to precisely measure flatness of the cold rolled strip by detecting a wave generating position using a CCD camera and measuring a wave using a laser distance finder. CONSTITUTION: A flatness measuring apparatus includes a welding device(1), a coil information management section(2), a CCD camera(3), an illumination(4), a central processing unit(5), a motor driving section(6), a laser flatness measuring section(7), a guide roll(8), and an encoder(9). The central processing unit(5) has a communication card(51), an image capture board(52), an A/D board(53), a counter board(54), and a CPU board(56). The coil information management section(2) manages information of a coil. The illumination(4) is attached to the CCD camera(3). The laser flatness measuring section(7) measures a flatness of a strip being conveyed.
