PURPOSE: A method for driving a field sequential liquid crystal display device is provided to reduce power consumption at the moment of driving each light source and easily control brightness/chromaticity of displayed colors. CONSTITUTION: In one vertical sync of a sequential driving back light, lighting frequencies of a red light source, a green light source, and a blue light source are adjusted at a ratio of x:y:1(wherein, x and y are positive real numbers), so that brightness ratio of red and green are increased and a brightness ratio of blue is decreased. In adjusting the lighting frequencies, a lighting time gap of each light source in the vertical sync of one frame displaying an image is reduced, so that each light source is sequentially driven as many as the frequency of x+y+1.
