<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) produced in barley gene, and to provide a method for utilizing the same. <P>SOLUTION: Large amounts of cDNA clones originated from a kind of barley: 'Sekishinryoku', 'Haruna Nijo' are sequenced, and a single nucleotide polymorphism-recognized site (polymorphism site) is found among the kinds. The single nucleotide polymorphism is produced on the gene, has high possibility to participate in a phenotype characteristic to the kind, and can thereby be utilized for various uses. For example, an oligonucleotide containing the polymorphism site can be utilized as a tool for judging the base of the polymorphism existing on the gene of the barley, thereby enabling the genetical identification of the kind, the judgment of the type of the gene, and the like. Further, the oligonucleotide can be used as a probe for isolating a gene or detecting a single nucleotide polymorphism to produce and screen a new transformant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
