<p>PURPOSE: A video restoration processor for processing multimedia signals is provided to minimize memory access on the basis of a reduced instruction set computer processor. CONSTITUTION: A video restoration processor includes a RISC processor(207) for performing overall control for restoring a compressed motion picture, a video decoder(203) for carrying out restoration of the motion picture, and a post processor(205) for post-processing the restored motion picture signal to make the signal suitable for an output device. The processor further includes a decoding sequence control unit direct memory access(204) for interfacing the video decoder with an external memory, a post direct memory access(209) for interfacing the post processor to the external memory, a peripheral device(216) required for applications of the video restoration processor, and a peripheral device direct memory access(210) for interfacing the peripheral device with the external memory. The video restoration processor also has an SDRAM controller(213) for controlling the external memory, a peripheral device bridge(212) for interfacing a local bus connected to the peripheral device with a main bus(211), three independent main bus, coprocessor bus(202) and peripheral device control bus for connecting the components.</p> |
