PURPOSE: An alternator having a variable pulley for a vehicle is provided to always keep electric power amount regardless of the rotational frequency variation of an engine by varying the diameter of the pulley, which generates the driving force of the alternator charging a battery with electricity, to be small or large according to the rotational frequency of the engine. CONSTITUTION: An alternator having a variable pulley(10) is composed of moving and fixing members(10a,10b) and a variable member(10c). The moving and fixing members vary the inserted width of a belt(V) according to the rotational frequency of an engine by separate-combining the pulley transmitting the driving force of the engine by the medium of the belt. The pulley is combined to a shaft(1) rotating a rotor that induces the change of the polarity of magnets and generates electric current to a field coil. The variable member integrally formed to the shaft increases and decreases the width between the moving and fixing members by medium of centrifugal force changed according to the rotational frequency of the engine.
