PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous silica membrane which includes surface chemical modification groups in a large amount and has pores suitable for membrane emulsification. SOLUTION: The porous silica membrane for membrane emulsification contains SiO2as a main component and has pores having diameters of 0.3 to 50μm and diameters of≤50 nm. It is preferable to produce the porous silica membrane by a sol-gel process utilizing phase separation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
