PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for driving a main shaft of a rolling dryer capable of performing rolling drying operation under a constant pressure for tea leaves by suppressing a torque fluctuation during revolutions of the main shaft movable in the front and rear directions of the rolling dryer and maintaining the quality of the tea leaves. SOLUTION: This apparatus for driving the main shaft 3 of the rolling dryer is equipped with a hollow speed reducer 12 provided with the main shaft 3 passed through the interior of a rolling chamber housing the tea leaves, arranged therein and having rolling hands fixed to the main shaft 3, a motor 10 for rotating and driving the main shaft 3, a transmission shaft 12b connected through a transmission belt 13 to an output shaft 10a of the motor 10 on one end side and connected to the main shaft 3 on the other end side and capable of reducing the revolutions of the motor 10 to a desired number of revolutions and transmitting the revolutions to the main shaft 3 and a movable screw 18 capable of moving the main shaft 3 back and forth relatively to a rolling chamber and regulating a gap between the rolling hands and bottom bamboos laid on the base of the rolling chamber. A large-sized pulley 14 corotating with the main shaft 3 is installed on an extension line of the main shaft 3. The pulley 14 is a flywheel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
