PURPOSE: A character type checking method is provided to enable a user to check a current character type mode, e.g., alphabetic characters or Hangul characters, in a computer by using a prompt shape, a blinking lamp on a keyboard, or a beep sound. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. In order to discriminate a current character type mode, a prompt(1), a blinking lamp(2) and a beep sound speaker(3) can be used. The prompt(1)'s colour, shape or pattern can be different according to the character type. The blinking lamp(2) on a keyboard can be switched on or off according to the character type. A sound tone quality and volume of the beep sound speaker(3) can be adjusted according to the character type.
