PURPOSE: A caterpillar type automatic grindstone inspecting apparatus is provided to ensure and improve quality of a cold rolled article by inspecting front and rear surface of a strip. CONSTITUTION: A caterpillar type automatic grindstone inspecting apparatus includes a frame(12) having a transfer car rail(14) for guiding a grindstone device, a transfer car(13) moving along the transfer car rail(14) of the frame(12), upper and lower grindstone conveyers(40,50) fixed to the transfer car(13) so as to drive a rectangular grindstone(20) widthwise a strip(6), and a dust collecting section for removing impurities created when the grindstone makes contact with the strip(6). A plurality of sensors(40-1,40-2,50-1,50-2) is installed on the frame(12) in order to set a position of the upper and lower grindstone conveyers(40,50). The transfer car(13) is traveled by means of a traveling motor. The upper and lower grindstone conveyers(40,50) are driven by a driving gear and a pinion gear(18), which is operated by means of a driving motor(19).
