PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a work is apt to lift when being clamped, a shift can be caused, and accurate clamping is difficult in a conventional work clamping device of a machine tool such as a vice and a chuck of a lathe. SOLUTION: A clamping device 1 is provided with a slide mechanism on the fastening side of a vice A. A fastening force is made to act on a work 7 to come into close contact with a reference plate 27 to attain accurate clamping. By installing this clamping device to the clamping part of a vice and a chuck of a lathe, the works can be fixed in a stable position without being lifted when fastening. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
