PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining method for the inside groove of a diaphragm, where a K-type groove can easily and efficiently be machined in the inner peripheral part even of a large-sized and heavy diaphragm, a groove having an accurate shape can be formed in higher precision, a both face groove for a curved surface other than a perfect circle can be also machined, and, in addition, some device or the like is used so that the K-type groove can efficiently be formed inside the diaphragm. SOLUTION: There are provided a rotation table 6 on which a diaphragm 15 to be machined can horizontally be mounted in a state that the inner peripheral part of the diaphragm is open, a rotation driving mechanism for rotating the rotation table around its axial center, and a gas cutting machine 22 arranged in the inner peripheral side of the rotation table. The gas cutting machine has a pair of gas cutting torches 23, 24 facing upward and downward, which jets gas flame from the central position in the thickness direction of the diaphragm toward both its surface sides.
