PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating an epiphytic orchid, making it possible to easily raise an epiphytic orchid having roots with the heavy average weight, and large number of stems and flowers, even when any special watering method or the like is not used. SOLUTION: The method for cultivating an epiphytic orchid comprises a process of planting an epiphytic orchid in culture medium containing a cultivation supporting body and controlled release fertilizer. The culture medium comprises a surface layer which contains the cultivation supporting body but does not contain the controlled release fertilizer, a fertilizer layer which is arranged below the surface layer and contains the cultivation supporting body and the controlled release fertilizer.
