摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and efficiently producing an optically active intermediate useful for producing antimicrobial compounds, and to provide an improved method for producing levofloxacin. SOLUTION: This method for producing the corresponding optically active phenoxypropane derivative in high chemical and optical purity, high optical yield and conversion comprises treating a phenoxyacetone derivative with cells of microorganisms selected from the group consisting of those belonging to the genera Pseudomonas, Kocuria, Rhodococcus, Bevundimonas, Aeromonas, Methylobacterium, Candida, Yarrowia, Sporothrix, Mycobacterium, Leifsonia and Stenotrophomonas, a cultured product thereof or extracted fraction thereof, thus providing the improved method for producing levofloxacin.
