METHOD FOR SENSING BREAKAGE OF ROLLING ROLLS

PURPOSE: A method for sensing breakage of rolling rolls is provided which not only senses breakage circumstances, but also automatically copes with the breakage circumstances by using pressure difference of load cell caused when breakage circumstances of work rolls or backup rolls are generated during rough rolling operation. CONSTITUTION: In a method for sensing whether rolling rolls for roughly rolling a bar being threaded are broken or not by impressing roll force to the rolling rolls through operation of reduction motor whose driving is controlled by reduction control computer, the method for sensing breakage of the rolling rolls comprises a step of setting up a reference rolling reduction for rough rolling the bar; a step of detecting a rolling reduction impressed by the reduction motor at both ends of the rolling rolls; a step of judging whether or not to proceed rough rolling process by comparing the reference rolling reduction with the detected rolling reduction; a step of comparing rolling reduction values detected at both ends of the rolling rolls respectively if it is judged that the rough rolling process is proceeded; and a step of stopping the rough rolling process of rough rolling mill if it is detected that deviation of rolling reduction obtained by the above comparison results is 25% or more of the reference rolling reduction.
