PURPOSE: A back light unit is provided to manufacturing the back light unit without a polarizing sheet by differently constructing a prism sheet and a diffusion sheet, thereby improving the optical efficiency and reducing the manufacturing costs. CONSTITUTION: A back light unit includes a light input part formed of a lamp(44) generating an optical beam, and a lamp housing(46) packaging the lamp and reflecting the optical beam. A light guide plate(34) guides the optical beam passed through the light input part. A reflector(32) is formed under the light guide plate for reflecting the optical beam proceeding to a lower surface and a side of the light guide plate toward an upper surface of the light guide plate. A diffusion sheet(36) is 113μm in thickness and diffuses the optical beam. A prism sheet(38) controls a proceeding direction of the optical beam passed through the diffusion sheet and is 165μm in thickness to be accumulated with the diffusion sheet and have a half-power angle larger than 40 deg.
