PURPOSE: A balance shaft assembly is provided to prevent reduction of engine output by reducing the rotation resistance caused due to the engine oil during the high speed rotation of the balance shaft. CONSTITUTION: A balance shaft assembly(1) comprises a balance shaft(2) having an eccentric mass portion(6); a carrier(3) for supporting the balance shaft; an air inlet check valve(12) mounted on the carrier, and which opens to permit the air existing within a crank case to flow into the carrier when the internal pressure of the crank case increases; and an oil outlet check valve(15) arranged underneath the carrier, and which opens to discharge the oil collected within the carrier to the crank case.
