PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool apparatus which is able to firmly mount a tool holder in a hollow spindle into which another shaft is fitted. SOLUTION: An adapter 10 fixed to the tip end of the hollow spindle and the tool holder 40 are fitted by means of a fitting projection 20 and a fitting bore 250. The body 42 of the tool holder 40 is provided with a tapered internal peripheral surface 278, and the adapter 10 is provided with retaining holes 270 for retaining steel balls 272, and a cam groove 280 for pushing the balls outwards is provided on an external surface of a clamping member 256. A worm wheel 294 is integrally formed on the clamping member 256, and is engaged to a worm 286 retained by the adapter 10. When the worm wheel 294 and the clamping member 256 are turned by turning the worm 286, the steel balls 272 are pushed outwards by the bottom surface of the can groove 280, and are engaged to the tapered internal peripheral surface 278. Clamping is carried out by pushing the rear end face 48 of the tool holder 40 against the front end face 16 of the adapter 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
