PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tampon which can prevent the spilling of mensural blood while facilitating the operation of inserting it into vaginal canals. SOLUTION: The tampon 1 has many lines of groove 6 formed along the direction of insertion and is flat in the cross sectional shape thereof in the direction orthogonal to the insertion. In the cross sectional shape, it has the axis of symmetry in the direction parallel to the short-hand direction S thereof and is symmetrical on the axis of symmetry while being asymmetrical without the axis of symmetry in the direction parallel to the longitudinal direction thereof.
