PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a statistical shape model for the left ventricle from an aggregate of non-dense two-dimensional contour input values while taking the missing of identifiable land marks, and non-dense input values under consideration; and a program storing device in which a program for realizing the method is stored. SOLUTION: This method forms the three-dimensional statistical shape model for the left ventricle from the non-dense two-dimensional contour input values. In such a method, data sets are prepared, land marks are selected and a weighting which indicates the reliability degrees for respective land marks is set. Then, by the prepared set fro a shape model, a statistical model is determined by a major component analysis. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
