SPINEL-BASED DIELECTRIC CERAMIC COMPOSITION AND MANUFACTURE OF DIELECTRIC CERAMICS USING COMPOSITION

PURPOSE: A dielectric ceramic composition based on spinel is provided, which has high Q value and low dielectric constant for communication devices used in the microwave/millimeter wave frequency range. CONSTITUTION: The dielectric ceramic composition containing spinel(MgAl2O4) and Li2CO3 as main component and auxiliary component, respectively is expressed by a composition formula of MgAl2O4 + xLi2CO3, wherein, x is in the range of 0<x<=5 mol%. The ceramic dielectrics are produced by the following steps of: mixing MgO with Al2O3 in a molar ratio of 1:1; calcining at 1300-1350deg.C for 4hrs. to form spinel phase; adding 0.1-5mol% of Li2CO3; mixing and forming; sintering at 1600-1650deg.C for 4hrs. The resultant ceramic dielectrics have 8.3-8.4 of dielectric constant and 15,000-16,000 of Q value.
