<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for reusing a blood vessel obturator intraoperatively even after the obturator is removed from a microcatheter inserting instrument. <P>SOLUTION: The inserting sheath 10 of the invention is loaded on the blood vessel obturator 12 after the obturator is removed from a microcatheter in order to reuse an obturating coil intraoperatively for obturating the blood vessel. The sheath is comprised of an elongated tube member 22, and the tube member has a longitudinal slot 34 that is formed on the upper wall 24 of the member and extends along the length of the tube member. The upper wall of the tube member, which abuts the slot, has inclined parts to receive the blood vessel obturator. The sheath may be provided with a wing member, which extends outward from the inclined part on the outer surface of the tube member, to facilitate the insertion of the blood vessel obturator into the sheath. The tube member may be provided with a section for receiving a flexible pusher member to facilitate the loading of the blood vessel obturator on the sheath. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
