PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter filtering out various kinds of foreign matters without having a clogging problem and having a high rate and stable quantity of air flow. SOLUTION: The passage type air filter has spaces, namely trapping rooms, with a large number of sawtooth cross sections coated with an adhesive. When air enters the trapping room of the filter, the air makes complicated air flow and collides with the walls of the trapping room many times, and then the air enters the next trapping room. During the process, various kinds of foreign matters in various sizes present in the air flow are trapped by the adhesive on the wall surface of the trapping room to deposit on the walls of the trapping room to filter the air. The trapping room is an exclusive space to deflect the air and to reserve the foreign matters. Even when the foreign matters are reserved in a large amount, the passage for the air is formed with proper distance and this prevents clogging. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
