PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sand with high quality at a low cost by removing foreign matter adhering to the sand without using water. SOLUTION: A pair of rotary shafts 18 extended in the inside of a main body 14 parallel to the axial direction of the main body 14 are set face to face at a prescribed gap in the radius direction and both rotary shafts 18, 18 are rotated in mutually opposed directions. Removal members 22 extended in the radius direction are installed each in the rotary shafts 18 at a prescribed gap from each other in the axial direction. A large number of projected parts 22b are formed in both side faces of each removal member 22 and projected parts 22b and 22b implanted in mutually opposed side faces of the removal member 22 of one rotary shaft 18 and the removal member 22 of the other rotary shaft 18 are set in a manner that the projected parts 22b and 22b can contact with each other in the overlapping region of the removal members 22 and 22. When sand is supplied from the upper side to drop downward to the region where the projected parts 22b and 22b of the removal members 22 and 22 neighboring in the axial direction, the projected parts 22b and 22b are brought into contact with the surface of the sand to scrape and remove foreign matter from the sand.
