PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outer cylinder rotating concentrator from which the concentrated sludge can be discharged without much resistance, in which there is no possibility to break polymer-flocculated flocks in the sludge, the sludge can be stably concentrated and the residence time of the sludge in the outer cylinder can be easily adjusted and which is hardly clogged since the sludge flows smoothly. SOLUTION: This outer cylinder rotating concentrator is provided with the outer cylinder 15 both ends of which are closed by disk-shaped flanged plates 17, 19 and the peripheral surface of which is constituted of a metal screen 21 and a screw 39 arranged concentrically in the cylinder 15. The cylinder 15 and the screw 39 are rotary-driven in the directions opposite to each other. An inlet opening 55 is arranged on the peripheral surface of a cylindrical center shaft 41 of the screw 39 near the plate 17 on one end side of the cylinder 15.
