PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which can exceedingly enhance the slidability and wear resistance of the sliding portion between a relatively moving first member and second member. SOLUTION: Grease 36 is injected (into a clearance) between a needle bar 11 and a needle bar supporting member 12, i.e., between a DLC film 30 and a fluorine film 34 to lubricate the needle bar 11 and the needle bar supporting member 12 to each other. The grease 36 is prepared by using a diester base as a base oil and lithium (Li) hydroxystearate as a thickener. The base oil is about 10 mm<SP>2</SP>/s (cSt) in its dynamic viscosity at 40°and the diameter of the fibers of the thickener is about 0.1 micron. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
