PURPOSE: A multi-mode luminance correcting method is provided to use various window modes without an additional divider. CONSTITUTION: A portion of n pixels is set as a window region(100). Different weights are respectively given to pixels in the window region and pixels that are not included in the window region(200). A divisor is formed in consideration of the weights. The divisor of a divider of a digital camera, that is n, is shifted toward upper bits by K(410) when the divisor is larger than n, but n is shifted toward lower bits by K when the divisor is smaller than n(420), to thereby obtain a luminance average value of a video frame(430). The window region is 1/4 or 1/9 of the video frame. The weight for the pixels in the window region is 1 and the weight for the pixels that are not included in the window region is 0.
