PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting the remaining amount of paper money in a cash dispenser are provided to vary a near end position according to a client's request and detect correctly the remaining amount of the paper money by using particular paper money having a recognizable pattern. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting the amount of paper money in a cash dispenser includes a paper money detection sensor(410) and a paper money sorting portion(420). The paper money detection sensor is used for sensing the paper money discharged from a cash box and detecting a special pattern of particular paper money. The paper money sorting portion controls a transferring path of the paper money and produces the present amount of the paper money if the particular pattern of particular paper money is detected by the paper money detection sensor. |
