METHOD FOR REMOVING SULFUR FROM MOLTEN STEEL BY MEASURING THICKNESS OF SLAG LAYER

PURPOSE: A method for removing sulfur from molten steel by measuring thickness of slag layer is provided to effectively remove sulfur in molten steel by calculating an appropriate amount of quicklime required for removing sulfur from thickness of molten steel slag. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the processes of measuring thickness of slag layer in non-mixed molten steel introduced into electric arc furnace; and adding an amount of quicklime corresponding to slag thickness of 10 to 13 mm to slag so that a ratio of CaO/Al2O3 in slag becomes 1.4 to 1.6.
