STATIC-PRESSURE AIR BEARING BY USING POROUS CERAMIC

PURPOSE: A static-pressure air bearing is provided to reduce cost and time required for forming pores in the static-pressure air bearing by using porous ceramic having a porosity of 20 to 25% as a bearing plane of the static-pressure air bearing. CONSTITUTION: A porous ceramic stuff(21) having minute pores(21a) is fixed to a journal section of a bearing body for supporting a rotational movement and to a thrust section of the bearing body for supporting axial load. The minute pores(21a) are distributed over the whole area of a bearing plane. Porous ceramic has a porosity of 20 to 25% and consists of 2MgO, 2Al2, O3, and 5SiO2. A particle size of porous ceramic is about 70 micrometer. The porous ceramic stuff(21) is made of cordierite powder or alumina powder. The cordierite powder is mixed with water in a ratio of 7:3.
