PURPOSE: An oil drain structure is provided to prevent abrasion of balance shaft by preventing deposition of foreign substances in the carrier. CONSTITUTION: A carrier(20) covers a balance shaft(12) arranged underneath a crank shaft. The carrier has a drain hole(22) formed at the lower portion of the carrier so as to drain the oil from the carrier and a cover(30) during replacement of oil in an oil pan. The carrier has a semicircular drain slot(24) formed at the side surface of the carrier where the cover is mounted. The cover has an oil drain hole formed at the side surface of the cover. The carrier is attached to a bed plate(11) of a cylinder block(10) through a bolt(15), and the cover is attached to the side surface of the carrier.
