PURPOSE: A depository box for storing temporarily paper money is provided to increase the collection capacity for paper money without increasing manufacturing costs. CONSTITUTION: A depository box for storing temporarily paper money includes a main body(100), a paper money insertion portion(101), a paper money storage portion(102), and a sensing portion. The main body includes a predetermined space for storing paper money(103) and has a lower side narrower than an upper side. The paper money insertion portion is formed at one side of the main body. The paper money storage portion is formed at the lower side of the main body. The sensing portion includes a light emitting sensor(110) and a light receiving sensor(120). The light emitting sensor is installed at one side of the paper money storage portion. The light receiving sensor is installed at a position facing the light emitting sensor.
