An earthmoving machine to clear the build-up of earth and debris along a fence line includes a main support beam 4 extending from a mounting on a tractor and supporting the rotary earth moving scraper head 10, 11 of the machine in a horizontal plane. When the sensor arm A detects the presence of an object such as a fence post in front of the rotary head, the hydraulic cylinder 7 is actuated to pivot the work head around the pivot 6 into a position behind the main beam so that the head will clear the post.
