PURPOSE: A charging apparatus and a charging method are provided to reduce consumption of battery power of the mobile communication terminal, while allowing for efficient use of the power of the USB. CONSTITUTION: A charging apparatus comprises a USB interface(20) of a mobile communication terminal for outputting a data signal input from a USB interface(30) of a personal computer, a power control signal and power; a micro processor and USB control unit(10) for receiving the data signal and outputting a power control signal; and a power switch and charger circuit(50) which is switched by the power control signal and charges a battery by the voltage output from the USB interface of the mobile communication terminal, and supplies the voltage to the mobile communication terminal. |
