The inlet manifold, comprising base and cover components, e.g. of a plastic material and joined together by vibration welding to form two or more suction ducts, has the cover component (20) made from separate shells (24, 25, 26, 27), each forming a segment of an inlet duct wall. At least two adjacent shells (25, 26) are linked by a connecting element (22) that is supple in three spatial directions. The supple element lies in the plane of the flange connecting the base and cover components and can be fixed to the flange; it can be made in a variety of shapes, including V-shaped, omega, circular, elliptical or zigzag.
