PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine igniter which detects a detonation without using a high-cost circuit such as a bandpass filter, and controls ignition time for suppressing the detonation. SOLUTION: In this igniter, outputs of combustion pressure sensors 8A, 8B are inputted to A/D conversion input ports of an MPU 3 through peak hold circuits 10A, 10B to obtain digital values corresponding to peak values of the outputs of the sensors 8A, 8B. By comparing the digital values with a decision value, the detonation is detected. When it is detected that the detonation occurs in a prescribed frequency, an ignition time angle is delayed. When it is detected that the detonation is eliminated, or when the generation frequency is reduced, the ignition time angle is advanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
