<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a wavelength multiplex light amplifying device so as to obtain an amplified light output level coping with the number of light signals included in a wavelength multiplex light signal. <P>SOLUTION: A light communication system is provided with a light amplifying means, a multiplex light signal number information detecting means, a detecting means, and a light output controlling means. The light amplifying means, such as an EDF 1 or the like, amplifies a wave length multiplex signal obtained by modulating and multiplexing the plurality of different wavelength light signals by respectively different frequency. The multiplex light signal number information detecting means obtains the information on the number of wavelength multiplex light signals by the presence of modulating frequency component which has modulated the light signal. The detecting means, such as a light receptor element 8 or the like, detects the output level of the light amplifying means. The light output control means, such as a light output control circuit 25 or the like, controls the output level of the light amplifying means so as to have a level coping with the number of the wavelength multiplex light signals based on the detecting signal of the detecting means and the information on the number of light signals detected by the multiplex light signal number information detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
