PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a discharge lamp with improved processes of sealing and blocking a discharge vessel. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of a discharge lamp by which the discharging vessel is blocked after a sealing gas is sealed in it, the sealing and the blocking are performed in a chamber which includes the sealing gas and is almost prevailed by a standard pressure. The chamber is not necessarily evacuatable and may be opened. In other words, complete sealing is not needed and the chamber is arranged so that a gas flow is always passing through it.
