PURPOSE: A laser spot welding apparatus and a method thereof are provided to achieve a superior welding state by performing a laser spot welding after directly connecting a laser beam guiding device to a material to be welded. CONSTITUTION: A laser spot welding apparatus includes a laser beam guiding device(20) formed with a beam path for allowing laser beam to pass therethrough. A cooling system(30) is provided to supply cooling water to the laser beam guiding device(20). An auxiliary gas supplying device(40) is provided to supply auxiliary gas to the laser beam guiding device(20). A pressing device(50) presses the laser beam guiding device(20). A laser beam generating device(13) generates laser beam and supplies laser beam into the laser beam guiding device(20). A controller(60) is provided to control the operation of the cooling system(30), auxiliary gas supplying device(40), pressing device(50) and laser beam generating device(13).
