PURPOSE: A system for a statistical research using a PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) having a bar code reader and a method thereof is provided to recognize purchase tendencies of consumers in real time and to investigate a purchase tendency in a wide area. CONSTITUTION: A PDA device(10) is connected to a main office(14) which executes a statistical research. The main office(14) is connected to client companies(16-1,16-2,16-3, ... , 16-n) which request a statistical research with respect to a commodity. Panels supply commodity information to the main office(14) using the PDA device(10) received from the main office(14). Bar code information attached on the commodity is scanned using a bar code reader(12). The commodity information is written in the PDA device(10) with a simple purchase impression and transmitted to the main office(14). The main office(14) totalizes and analyzes the received commodity information, and calculates statistical data and supplies the statistical data to client companies(16-1,16-2,16-3, ... , 16-n). The client companies(16-1,16-2,16-3, ... , 16-n) utilize the statistical data for a marketing of the companies.
