PURPOSE: A method for assigning a THP(Traffic Handling Processor) block of an RNC(Radio Network Controller) in a wireless communication system is provided to check whether a usable THP exists in a spare THP block region, to assign a channel, and to change to a spare THP block according to situations of the assigned THP block when a call is completed, thereby efficiently using channel resources. CONSTITUTION: If channel assignment is requested in an RNC according to arrivals of a voice call, a packet call, and a video call(401), a system checks whether a usable channel exists within an assigned THP block region(402). If so, the system assigns a channel for the call request(403), and if not, the system checks whether a spare THP block exists(404). If so, the system includes the THP block in a corresponding traffic-only THP block region, and assigns a channel for a corresponding call(405). If the spare THP block does not exist, the system blocks the corresponding call(406). |
