<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an electronic component mounting device to be improved in mounting efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A component mounting head is mounted on each of a plurality of component mounting units provided on an index rotor, and a device which enables the component mounting head mounted on the mounting unit to advance or retreat in an axial direction, and another device which enables the component mounting head to rotate around the axis, are provided on each of the component mounting units. A head moving motor 86 as a drive source for an advance/ retreat unit serves as a mechanism of making a male screw member 100 ascend or descend by rotating a nut 94 formed in one piece with a rotor, a head rotating motor 88 as a drive source for a rotating device serves as a mechanism of making a rotating shaft 126 movable in an axial direction, taking advantage of a spline mechanism. Furthermore, the male screw member 100 and the rotating shaft 126 are set coaxial, a linking unit 146 which enables the screw member 100 and the rotating shaft 126 to rotate relatively or not to rotate relatively is provided, and the two motors are formed into one piece (84).
