PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp in which effective cooling and low cost are achieved and deterioration of the lamp efficiency can be prevented. SOLUTION: This is an electrodeless discharge lamp which comprises an induction coil 30 that is inserted in the recessed part 10a of a bulb 10 and is made of a core 30a and a coil 30b, a power supply circuit 40 that supplies power to the induction coil, a housing 50 that houses the power supply circuit 40, and a first heat conduction member 70 that is provided along the induction coil 30. The first heat conduction member 70 is thermally connected to a second heat conduction member 90 that is provided on the power supply circuit 40 side, and a magnetic field shielding member 80 constructed of ferrite is provided between the bulb 10 and the second heat conduction member 90. The relative magnetic permeability of the ferrite constructing the magnetic field shielding member 80 is smaller than the relative magnetic permeability of the core 30a, and the magnetic field shielding member 80 functions as a plasma position control means for controlling the position of plasma that is generated in the bulb 10.
